Marvel Classic: New with the Old

out this month of a new quarterly called Marvel Classic , a magazine offering a selection of episodes from the Silver Age.

A lot of movement these days toward the booth, because after the launch of Marvel Stars , the relaunch of Marvel Icons and Marvel Heroes , and before the arrival of the future X-Men Universe , Panini launches a new publication based in fact on an interesting concept: the new edition at a low price, dating adventures of the Silver Age of comics, a period rich in creativity and sees Stan Lee to the foundations of marvelverse.
This first issue looks at the origins of the most famous heroes of the House of Ideas. We are witnessing the first steps of Spider-Man in Amazing Fantasy # 15 to those of Iron Man in Tales of Suspense # 39 or Thor in Journey into Mystery . Other characters or teams complete the picture, since we also find the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men, Hulk and Captain America.
We know of course that, as the "Marvel way" to the former, designers, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko , played an important role in the creation of these narratives and their development .

For younger children, inevitably, the shock may be important, the design obviously does not correspond to today's standards but, more importantly, is the narration that reveals severely dated. It's almost more a curiosity, and with a hindsight, it is therefore necessary to embark on this reading. Parts are also quite amusing. The FF for example, then they make their first appearance (in Central City at the time, and not New York), damage and staggering enough free. The Thing out of the sewers hard, destroying a road, Johnny Storm ignites and instead to leave the vehicle on which he works, he prefers to go through the roof in the melting ... even Sue (Jane), aka the Invisible, behaves so little smart, so it is invisible precisely, it shakes all pedestrians on a street, while their screaming to let go, just to make them panic (and remain discreet)!
short, no need to put an ugly little mess in town. O)

Future issues of Marvel Classic be dedicated later to a single character or a particular team. The question is: Who is really this collection because, despite its price certainly attractive, it is duplication with Integrals (and even triple-employment with Marvel: Origins ) On which the collectors tend to fall back on a priority basis (the works are more beautiful and more complete). Rest new readers, but without the nostalgic side, these stories may soon prove to be rather stodgy. Too bad, unlike the U.S., it is not possible to determine precisely the sales figures, that would have quickly revealed the failure or success of an idea which, though not totally bad, yet adds a further title in the already complex maze of collections dedicated to the American publisher.

Almost injugeables by today's standards, the stories collected here, however, a real historical value, even symbolic, and can see, with a benevolent eye, the naivety of the era.
